The Croatian handball national team got together on Friday, 2 January in Zagreb, and the second stage of training camp will be held at Umag where manager Slavko Goluža will have 18 players at his disposal and, by all accounts, 16 of them will take the trip to Qatar.
It is not a glamorous group, but a tricky one, nonetheless. We will take it one game at a time, there are no easy opponents. It’s going to be tough, but I hope we will come out leading the group. It would be nice, and easier along the way, if we were to reach the round of 16 as group winners. The goal for the World Championship is to be among the top seven or eight teams, which will see the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, and that is our primary goal, and after that come what may. I hope we will reach the semifinals – Domagoj said at the beginning of the second stage of the national team’s training camp.
Croatian group opponents at the World Championship are Austria, Tunisia, Iran, Macedonia and BiH.
